Nick,
Can I make a suggestion regarding this?
The forum allows anyone to register and post automatically, this is good. However I find that it allows some nongenuine memberships too.
Maybe this can be prevented by moderating the registration process. That is, anyone can apply for membership, but subject to approval by an administrator. The membership form can include questions about thedesignation or some kind of details about the member which could ofcourse be kept confidential, should the member wish so.

Absolutely - this takes a lot of my time and energy as I have to delete and ban them. I did over 20 this weekend - at least an hours work.
I am not sure you can administrate a Forum like that though. This is one of the benefits and disadvantages - just like a blog.
I'll ask the web host for advice but appreciate the advice and concern.
