I would just register and I am sure you will simply be converted.

Found out from our deanery today. Apparently our programme director won't let anyone register for SSM's until New ATSM's are finalised in August! Seems a waste of 4 months to me Crying or Very sad

That's a shame but makes sense I guess.

Here's an update from the RCOG...

Quote:
The RCOG continues to develop its working relationships with PMETB. After a huge amount of work by many Members and Fellows of the college, to whom we are extremely grateful, the specialty's curricula have been submitted to and accepted by PMETB. The academic curriculum received specific commendation. The curricula for advanced training, including the 20 Advanced Training Skills Modules and the 5 subspecialties, have been agreed subject to minor amendments. We expect a final sign-off at the end of January. This is a tremendous achievement and congratulations and thanks are due to all those involved.

Workforce planning and workforce numbers continue to demand attention. A Working Party has been convened to estimate the requirements of the workforce for the future. Clinical services are changing; trainees offer less service delivery and a consultant-based service is becoming closer to a reality. There is now a real justification for consultant expansion based on the need to improve maternity care and labour ward presence.

However, the recent increase in the financial pressures on Trusts and the acceptance that a degree of reconfiguration of services will be required, will certainly influence the future numbers of consultants.

We know that consultant expansion is essential but how many consultants will be required as service changes evolve?

What effects will Choice and Payment by Results have?

What about the effect of Independent Treatment Centres?

What numbers of trainees should enter subspecialty training?

What numbers of trainees should complete the various Advanced Training Skills Modules?

It is essential that these deliberations are completed rapidly as we are shortly to start a new era in specialty training. Now is the opportunity to shape the workforce towards future requirements.

Has there been any update from RCOG regarding 'credits' for the various ATSMs and how many a trainee needs?

Not as far as I am aware.

The RCOG would announce this on their site and through circulars which I always try to transcribe here.

I'll keep my eyes open and let you know as soon as I do.

Hi Nick
Do you know where I can find the new ATSM modules? I could have sworn they were on the College website a few weeks ago, but struggling to find them now. A search on the site only brings up the old SSM curricula.
Any ideas, or just me being dense? Confused

try the pmetb site: www.pmetb.org.uk and go through PMETB / Quality / Curricula / Approved curricula / Obstetrics and Gynaecology curriculum

or you can copy paste this url:
