hi all,

have now heard from a few teale-fenninger's bout today's exam.

obst essays -- were good.

gyn essays -- a bit different but could handle.

mcqs -- were standard

emqs -- were difficult / set to a high standard. the stats emq was uncalculable etc.

obstetric essay paper -

1. anal sphincter damage --diagnose, manage.

2. preterm SROM 30/40 -- diagnostic factors on history/Ix/Ex
-- investigations
-- management

3. Pre pregnancy counselling - diabetes mellitus

4. Von Willebrand's in pregnancy -- diagnosis
-- history
-- antenatal and intrapartum Mx


could any one give us the split on Q1 and Q3 and also the way the marks were awarded?

gyn essay paper --


1. 15 yr old, pri dysmenorrhoea, OCP and NSAIDs did not help.

-- factors you'll like to know in social history, 6 marks
-- investigations, 5 marks
-- treatment, 9 marks


2. non absorbable suture material in pelvic floor surgery

-- reasons for preference / Advantages, 6 marks
-- disadvantages, 7 marks
-- how can you minimise complications from their use, 7 marks


3. cervical cancer screening has improved the incidence of cervical cancer

-- what organisational factors helped it?
-- limitations of screening tests
-- how could recent prophylaxis and diagnostic tools improve outcome


4. 1 day post oocyte retrival, abdo pain, SOB and chest pain

-- differential diagnosis
-- investigations
-- management


any changes / additions? how were the marks split?
