One of the Gynaecology Questions, the last one in fact, was the old classic 'uterine perforation during a ERPOC'. It went something like ...
You are called to theatre urgently by your SHO who is concerned he / she has perforated the uterus during a ERPOC for a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks.
Outline your immediate management? (7 marks)
How would you proceed if you thought there was a perforation? (8 marks)
How would you manage the patient post-operatively? (5 marks)
Let's see your answers
I expect 20 our of 20!!
Hope you saw and recognised the "question mark" in the title of my main post. This is not a defintite perforation and there are marks for saying this and being conservative therefore. Pretty obvious but you would be surprised how many people miss this stuff.
Oh and don;t forget to tell them to switch the suction off _________________ "Teale Fenning Medical Education" delivering evidence-based, exam-orientated learning since 1997 |
