2.Thyroid disease is a possible long term outcome of infections acquired prenatally. |

1. False. The risk of fetal infection and congenital anomalies is in excess of 80% ,when infection occurs in the first trimester and is upto 25% in early second trimester. The risk cotinues to decrease as the pregnancy advances. ( ref. Evidence based med.text fot OBstetrics and gynae.)

First 16 weeks risk is substantial
16-20weeks risk of minimal deafness only
From 20- EDD no documented risk

| Pre 20 weeks the problem relates to structural anomalies etc but surely even at 30 + weeks the fetus can develop the hepatitic picture presentation seen with most of these bugs: thrombocytopaenia, hepatosplenamegaly, jaundice, petichiae etc?? |

* phocomelia.
* Neon. purpura. |

* there is risk, but does it documented ? or negligable ?
* I may go for True as everything is POSSIBLE.
