Would agree but not convinced re TV.
It is a marker for other STDs however and they may well predispose.
Whilst we are on the subject of STDs and pregnancy - can you get a STD when pregnant? Can you get PID when pregnant? |

Pregnant women can get most, probably all STD's, including HIV, Chlamydia, HPV (warts) and herpes simplex.
PID is rare in pregnancy, because the amniotic sac prevents infections spreading from the cervix up towards the tubes. I suppose PID is still possible though, as not all PID is caused by ascending infections. |

Nice Question Nick, I agree with Maud
PID is rare in pregnancy but associated with higher maternal and fetal morbidity compared to non pregnant woman, according to my knowledge should be treated with I/V antibiotics, ofcourse the woman should be adequately counselled about safety of antibiotics used.
what about endocervical swabs in pregnancy ??
NICK regarding TV I would like to share some reading from Leusly and Baker
There is increasing evidence that TV infection can have a detrimental effect on pregnancy and is associated with preterm delivery and low birth wt infants.
Local treatment in the form of pessaries can be used in 1st trimester but systemic treatment will eventually be required.. |

It is rare to have PID in pregnancy; however, the disease can occur in the first 12 weeks of gestation before the decidua seals off the uterus from ascending bacteria. |
