Applications are invited for 2 LAS (Locum Appointment of Service) (ST4/6 Level) posts in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. These posts are for 6 months’ duration and are available immediately. Portsmouth Consultant Maternity Unit is responsible for approximately 5,000 deliveries and is a Tertiary Centre for high-risk Obstetric cases. The Gynaecology Department has subspecialty services in Oncology, Infertility and Minimal Access Surgery. The posts offer excellent experience in all areas of the specialty. Although these posts are not approved for training, it is envisaged that the post-holders will be treated no differently to those Registrars already in post. The post-holders will be part of a complement of 12 Registrars; the average hours of duty are 53 hours per week. Work is on a full-shift system and the posts are classified as Band 2B. Night time shifts are always shared between two Specialist Registrars who split the first and back-up call duties between them.
Essential requirements are full registration with the GMC and previous UK working experience at Senior SHO or Specialist Registrar level. The posts are available immediately subject to occupational health and CRB clearance.
