Just a short note to tell you we still have spaces on next weekends EMQ Course - "EMQ Solutions"
This is the first EMQ Course and I can promise you it is going to be a good one.
Having written these for the last 12 months I can truly say they are quite tricky. However, they are very much like the essays in that they trest your clinical experience rather than your knowledge although there is a big cross over.
I actually think the EMQ Course will really help you in the Essays as well. The reason for this is that you get asked open questions similar to the type in the Short Answer Papers. For example, you will asked about the investigation or treatment of a woman with itching in pregnancy rather than specific disorders such as cholestasis. You need to have a good grasp of the differential diagnoses therefore and that is how EMQs are largely written.
I have also managed to put a lot of facts / lists in the Course book which should prove a great help over the last few weeks. Stuff like:
FIGO Staging
Causes of polyhydramnios
Causes on non-immune hydrops
Vulval lesions
Ovarian tumours
Inheritances
Anyway, I'm off to write more EMQs and I hope to see you at the College this time next week! _________________ "Teale Fenning Medical Education" delivering evidence-based, exam-orientated learning since 1997
