Not sure what you mean but if you are asking 'is this the place to discuss the recent guidelines' then the answer is yes
Click here for a direct link to the Guideline or here for the Full Guideline.
Page 45 (short version) or page 220 (full guideline) state the new / revised classification of FHR trace features which does have some subtle modifications including an early deceleration quite rightly taking its place as a 'normal' thing again!! Hurrah
Get discussing .........

Yeah - they are in the Guideline
Subtle changes but important ones relating to early and variable decelerations.
What are they? (I can ensure you have read it that way ) |

Typical variable decelerations are non-reassuring feature whereas atypical variable decelerations are classifed as abnormal if present for >30mins.
Definitions from NICE 'the use of electronic fetal monitoring' here
Variable decelerations = Variable, intermittent periodic slowing of FHR with rapid onset and recovery. Time relationships with contraction cycle are variable and they may occur in isolation. Sometimes they resemble other types of deceleration patterns in timing and shape
Atypical variable decelerations = Variable decelerations with any of the following additional components:i. loss of primary or secondary rise in baseline rate, ii. slow return to baseline FHR after the end of the contraction. iii. prolonged secondary rise in baseline rate, iv. biphasic deceleration, v. loss of variability during deceleration, vi. continuation of baseline rate at lower level.
There are some pictures of CTGs with typical and atypical variable decelerations in this paper |
