Just wanted to say to everybody who passed CONGRATULATIONS.
It was really nice to go to the College today to have a look at the pass list and see all your familiar faces. You all had smiles on your faces this time rather than the panic stricken looks we saw a few weeks ago
Thank you for all your kind words regarding the OSCE course, I'll be sure to pass them onto Jullien and Nick.
To those of you who were unlucky this time, keep in touch with us and we'll do everything we can to make sure your name is on the list next time.

No
But an Erb's instead
Had had a diathermy I may have been tempted to do some thermal damage to the nasty hyperthyroidism examiner _________________ Bronwyn Bell

Dear Nick,Geetha and Julian,
THANK YOU ALL
YOUR COURSES(SAQ THEORY AND OSCE) MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE ESPECIALLY ,FOR A OVERSEAS CANDIDATE LIKE ME.
MAY I ADD A NOTE TO EACH ONE OF YOU:
NICK--- I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN WHAT TO ANSWER WHEN THE ROLE PLAYER(stress incontinence) KEPT ON TELLING--"IAM SO EMBARRASSED" IF I HAD NOT ATTENDED YOUR SESSION ON THE COURSE.
GEETHA----FOR THAT STATION ON APH....FROM THE COURSE....& ALMOST SIMILAR QUESTIONS THE ROLE PLAYER HAD ASKED ME.
JULIAN-----CHICKEN POX.....YOU HAD GUESSED RIGHT
THANK YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN.

Hi Bronwyn - Congratulations - well done!
What happened in that station with the "nasty hyperthyroidism examiner"? |

Thanks Stelios
Well done to you too!
He just kept interupting, talking over me and pulling silly faces, acting as if he was too gifted to be there and I was wasting his time! He completely threw me. Thank goodness it was my second to last station, my last one being the same prep one I started on, where I went on to listen to him annialate the girl after me!
All the other examiners were lovely
Did you have any aweful stations?

I am sure you don't want to think what would have happened if this had been your first station......

This is a worry and I have had several personal mails to the same effect.
Did anyone else have similar problems? |

Hi,
I am an overseas candidate. And I work in India.
I did My OSCE on monday afternoon, circuit D.All the examiners were very pleasent.I felt as though I was doing a station with the T.F team.Well..Just like the ones I had with Nick or Julian or Geetha during the course.
Infact ,I could not beleive that examiners can be so kind and nice. This is my honest opinion as this is the first time I am doing this sort of OSCE exams.
And regarding hyperthyriodism station---It was my best station.I did not have any problems and finished well ahead of time. And chicken pox was my next best.
Sorry to note that some of you had a difficult time. But any way ...Thanks to T.F coaching , all of us have passed the OSCE.

Hi Dr Sasiselvam
First of all congratulations on your success!
I was glad to hear that you had such a wonderful experience at the OSCE exam.
I wish we all had the same pleasant experience and those lovely memories but I am afraid this is not the case!
Secondly not of all us have passed the OSCE.
And I must tell you that if adverse circumstances (like those described above) had a major contribution to a failure with the associated impact on professional development, personal and family life it can be hard to overcome.
Moreover the fear of encountering similar circumstances in a future exam can have a negative impact on candidates' confidence and performance.
During this exam there were 6 sessions running concurrently so your chances of meeting a particular examiner were 1:6.
I am therefore glad to hear that you did not encounter any problems, but it appears that in a particular session and station adverse circumstances occured.
For some candidates this was the first station with deleterious effect on their overall performance, for some others it may have have been at or close to the end of their exam.
So the level of compromise of the overall performance could be variable.
Therefore I am afraid that the assumption that "whatever happened doesn't matter because all of us passed the OSCE" is incorrect.
Regards |
