The January 209 Mock exam was a tough one but we stuck to the recent RCOG trend and maintained a pass mark of 50% which seems fair considering the average performance. 50% equates to 80 / 160 marks as you well know which means the vast majority of you passed - this is unusual so well done!
Do not be too complacent however and please look at the feedback carefully and critically as this is this will ensure your mark gets better and better.
Our Gold Medallist got 105 - well done / that is a very good score and not far behind our Silver Medallist scored 102 and our Bronze Medallist 100.
The marks were much more closely spread than normal which we think is reassuring and we know your performance in the exam will be better so all in all you should all be very proud and, more importantly, confident!
The two lowest scorers (a 50 and a 54) had 2-3 essays that scored zero - we discussed how important it is to try each and every essay - a zero is impossible to recover from and we all agreed you know enough to score a few marks on any essay (even the aortic aneurysm one!) so pleae, please, please think about this and make sure you have a go (a 26 minute go) at all 8 essays!
Well done guys - good luck to those of you sitting the March exam - you can do it. _________________ "Teale Fenning Medical Education" delivering evidence-based, exam-orientated learning since 1997 |
