I don't think it matters, even though the theme were the same the questions inside were different. Besides, this is a well known fact - even then the pass rates for 2nd day is supposedly less then 1st n yes standared setting is different for each days(thats what I was told).
BTW Nick thanks for your help,I did OSCE circuits - and can say that its being an eye opener course & very helpful to get me through the exam

Hi and welcome ... nibbs is right - it does not matter. The questions have to be matched so that everyone is tested on the same thing. If you get Potter's one day you get Edwards the next - it is more about how you approach telling someone that their child has a fatal anomaly. |

So it seems you had the following:
3 Role Play:
Stress incontinence
Breaking bad news: cervical cancer
Salpingectomy for ectopic
? a 4th
3 Structured Viva:
Teach ST1 ventouse delivery
Lap diathermy injury
10 GP letters
? a 4th
2 Preparatory stations
Audit on urinary incontinence looking at consultant performance
Case note review ? case
Is this right?
Could you rack your grey matter for the last two questions (or at least confirm they were 1 role play and 1 structured viva) and if possible, give us some details about the case note review?
Maybe to help you there is often at least one structured viva on a guideline - Tuesdays group had a familial thrombophilia one relating to pregnancy.
Could you also confirm that you did the Monday exam?

Some specific questions now regarding the above:
Gynae role play on stress incontinence. How were you given the investigations - at the start or did you have to exam her and ask for the results? This is very important.
The teaching one on vacuum extraction: did you demo this to a role player or the examiner? Did it involve the indications, process, and aftercare or what? How was this structured? Did yo get any questions relating the process of teaching?
The preparatory audit station
3 or 4 slides? Did they want you to discuss the principles of audit or stick to the question relevant to the treatment of incontinence?
Structured viva on diathermy injury: did this involve risk management issues and complaint process?
The cervical cancer one: this is crucial - did it say 'cancer' or did it say 'suggestive of cancer' this changes the whole station you see. Did you end up discussing colp and biopsy under GA or actual staging and wertheims vs RRx?
Preparatory: case note review: what was this about? The Monday one was on shoulder dystocia.
Structured viva: GP letters: this was definitely GP letters and not results? Are you sure it was 10 and not 8? Did they want a superficial discussion or were you supposed to consider history, exam, tests etc in each case?
Role Play: left salpingectomy: did you get any case notes or simply told 'had a L salpingectomy yesterday? |

I was on tuesday afternoon session and yes familial thrombophilia did came up.
Gynae UI was to inform the pt about investigation needed
vacuum was to be taught to the role player, the examiner didnt ask any ques at all.
audit prep had just 3 slides- & the station involded question related to that particular audit
actually we had 10 bits not 8 7 it had both GP letters & results-to discuss-what to do next & urgency
role play - all that was there was few lines about the procedure . _________________ Nibbs |

But do guys not think knowing that questions like diathermy was gonna come out will mentally prepare the candidates at least . so that is half the battle won. |

Absolutely ... that is why we talk about it on our OSCE Courses and have a section in this Forum where the key principles are outlined and discussed.
