Try the NICE Guidelines - I am sure I read a few things about cerebral palsy and there were comments about the medico-legal aspects of CEFM.
Where does your question come from anyway? Not sure this will feature in the MRCOG Part 2 (written or oral). _________________ "Teale Fenning Medical Education" delivering evidence-based, exam-orientated learning since 1997 |

Yes' it is a strange question but I would try things like:
-Document patient's name, date and time clearly on the CTG.
-The person interpretting the CTG should have recieved proper training on the subject and have demonstrated that this trainign has been updated and maintained.
-findings should be explained to the patient clearly and documented in the notes thoroughly (which is a pain)
-CTG signed when reviewed, events recorded on CTG
-adverse outcomes and near misses should trigger incident reports and should be discussed within the department, highlighting possible issues,
-If adverse outcome, copies of the notes and CTGs should be made and kept etc, consutant responsible for the care informed
-only one in ten CPs are direct result of intrapartum events.
-has to be kept in mind that not having CTG is safer than having one and interpreting it wrongly, again, the training issue.
-senior advice in case of doubt or disagreement
And many many other things
everything comes under medicolegal need to choose more catchy ones I think. |
