hi,
some tips i followed when i prepared for my interviews........
Appear intelligent, think and answer questions, do not regurgitate answers
Your body language & nonverbal commutation is also very important
Dress smart but not too smart
Appear intelligent and non threatening
Be polite thruout
It is ok to be assertive. do not be aggressive in body language or use of words
be pleasant but not too obliging
Practice the way you sit, the way you dress, the language you use
Smile and maintain good eye contact all through out
Have a firm hand shake
DO NOT FORGET YOUR 'Thank you'
do not use too much make up.
hydrate yourself well, anxiety may make your mouth go dry and your diction will suffer.
always carry a good mint and a spare shirt
KNOW YOUR CV WELL
do not use strong perfumes --- ( you'll be in trouble if someone on the panel is allergic )
i hope these help..... _________________ Dr Miss. Raj Walavalkar MBBS MRCOG

Those are all excellent pieces of advice, thank you Raj.
At present the shortlisting process is happening in various regions for the last remaining NTN posts/LAT posts. In view of various time constraints.....ie that the applications for the ST posts will soon be going on - line, the interviews will occur within the next few weeks.
The structure essentially is going to remain unchanged with 4 stations:
1) Role Play Station concentrating on your communication skills and history taking (for those of you who have done the OSCE courses with us it's exactly the same thing)
2) Labour ward board with CTG/ Gynae lists or GP letters ( again those of you who have done our OSCE course will be familiar with these)
3) An interview with 2-4 interviewers discussing aspects of research and clinical governance
4) Interview Station with 2-4 interviewers discussing your CV.
If however you are having a year 4/5 matching interview they generally are focusing on your CV, a consultant type interview and changes in the training programme.
Essentially given the things that are going on within medicine, you really do need to know about changes in the training programme, the RCOG has a good post about this as does the MMC (modernising medical careers)website
The other thing is practice, practice, practice, whilst I agree your answers shouldn't appear rehearsed you don't want to appear as if you don't know what you're talking about.
I'll post a list of frequently/recently asked questions soon
Good Luck
