This is a very important post.
We are revising how we run the courses for the written and following detailed assessment of your feedback, both here and from the comments you provide after each course, we are making a few key changes. These include:
1. Reintroduction of the week long ABC Course
2. Amalgamation of the O&G in 48 Hours, EMQ Solutions, and Past Paper Courses into one all embracing weekend called The EMCQ Course
The courses and their dates can be seen by clicking here. A timetable, course prospectus, and web link is available for each one through this link with the exception of the new EMCQ Course which I have to prepare.
Essentially the EMCQ Course is a condensed version of the ABC Course. We offer both as we know some people prefer a weekend as this is easier in terms of study leave but equally we also know others want a whole week.
Please note these courses are aimed at improving your KNOWLEDGE and concentrate on factual information from the key texts (inclusing the Past Paper Book), Guidelines, and the literature. The courses are presented as a series of MCQs and EMQs.
The Essay Writing Technique Course remains as a seperate entitity and will continue to be run over a weekend and conclude with a formal, exam-comparable 'hot topic' Mock Exam that we personnaly mark over the subsequent 1-2 weeks.
We will support this course with a Correspondence Course and a pre-exam Essay Practice Course but the latter will only go ahead if we have a sufficient number of delegates.
We think these changes will make booking easier and also provide what YOU want! _________________ "Teale Fenning Medical Education" delivering evidence-based, exam-orientated learning since 1997

Thought I would make a post once the two new Courses had been tried and tested
I can't speak for all the candidates but I really enjoyed them! We had excellent verbal and written feedback and as far as I know everyone enjoyed them and would recommend them.
I have made two new books that we used on both courses (they are identical); one for gynaecology and one for obstetrics. The books have a well organised, page numbered index that covers the key topics you need to know. Each book contains several lists of key facts (staging, inheritances, vulval ulcers, congenital syndromes, congenital infection, ultrasound charactistics, tumour classifications, and even features of phaeochromocytoma!) and EMQ questions.
Each topic is linked to the Past Paper and the individual page references are given to aid your revision. The courses are modular therefore and this grealy enhances the learning experience and (hopefully) your short / long term memory.
As the ABC Course is longer this allows a more in depth discussion of each subject and of course greater coverage of the syllabus. It also allows us to set mock exams and daily homework.
The weekend EMCQ Course is also a great way to ensure you are up to date and an unmissable opportunity to cram 12 months work into 48 hours - and, yes, I am being serious!
Both Courses are very intensive and finished around 19.00 - 19.30 each day although were later on some days. Tiring but informative and hopefully not too arduous due to the informal and friendly way in which we conduct all of our courses.
Maybe some of the recent candidates can provide some feeback here - positive or negative - and also any suggestions for future courses.

I did the ABC course and recommend it strongly. I have been using the books since, adding more facts on the listed subjects. The course was intense and fun.
The only suggestion I have for future courses, is to consider using a room that has tables for candidates to sit and write at. A lot of the time is spent writing notes in the books and after 5 days of bending over with the books balancing on my lap, my neck & upper back were a little sore! |
