Hi everyone - so good to see the forum at work.
I need some assistance - I thought that I had read somewhere on the forum that delaying synto following ARM is no help and actually increases risk of PPH.
Any ideas if this is true or where it's from?

how nice to see you back Abi! The forum is poorer (and boring) without you!
I have no idea about your question. I'm sure the infection rates are increased in the delayed synto group but not sure about PPH. The outcome is not different at all.

Hi 'Old Timers' Wink

You are right Abi (not sure about PPH but certainly about its effectiveness.

This comes from Effective Care in Pregnancy and Childbirth by Enkin et al (the Oxford group / Cochrame evidence).

There is no benefit to waiting so tell those midwives to get it up and running! If you get too many contractions you can always turn it down.

Not sure if delaying increases PPH but I would say 'true' in an MCQ.
