I was just about to post something in Forum Announcements where we normally wish you well but this is just as appropriate.
Listen guys ... good luck and best wishes for tomorrow.
Some of you (in fact all of you) laugh when I tell you to enjoy the day but I really mean it. Think of it as a big quiz and do your absolute best. You all have the potential to pass and we have proven that to you over the last few months.
Essays - Remember that you know 90% or more of the answers to any essay when you see the marking scheme so do not be put off by a difficult question. Plan, bubble, do whatever works for you but think very, very carefully before you put pen to paper. It is essential to consider where to put your answer and to consider how the different sectiosn are worded.
MCQs - Go with your first instinct - it is almost always right. Go through the paper at a steady pace and if you struggle with a question leave it and come back later but make sure (and this is essential) that you answer the correct question when you carry on i.e. make sure you put the answer to question 123 in the 123rd answer slot Easy to mess this up and someone usually does. Make sure that is not you. Often historical facts and there are no tricks - no one is trying to catch you out.
EMQs - again maintain a steady pace and make sure you can answer all 40 questions in the hour. The guys from our Courses know how to do this and having done several mock exams you should all be able to finish the paper in the time allocated. I suggest you write down the time when you start and ensure you are on to question 11 after 15 minutes and so on. Again, no tricks here. Read the queston carefully and look for the keywords - there is often one and occasionally two. Beware of the detractors.
Good luck to each and every one of you. You all deserve to pass. _________________ "Teale Fenning Medical Education" delivering evidence-based, exam-orientated learning since 1997 |

I know it will be the last thing on your minds but please give us some feedback when you have time.
We will get to know the essays in detail as unfortunately someone will not get through and they are always sent the essays in full.
What we find really helpful is a summary break down of the EMQ and MCQ topics including any strange or unexpected questions. Topics that are repeated or trends are also interesting observations.
Write a few memos on a beer mat whilst you are celebrating!
Not much more to say now as you should all be in bed in the next hour _________________ "Teale Fenning Medical Education" delivering evidence-based, exam-orientated learning since 1997 |
