|
|
We have had an enormous number of enquiries about exemption from the MRCOG Part 1 Examination.
This is no longer an option BUT and it is a big BUT this only applies to people sitting equivalent exams after the start of this year.
According to the RCOG ...
| Quote: | All exemptions from MRCOG Part 1 have now been discontinued and no exemption applications will now be accepted.
Candidates who gained Part 1 exemption before it closed on 1st January 2007, will have the usual ten-year period within which to sit Part 2 for the first time |

According to Professor William L Ledger, Chairman of the Examination Committee ...
| Quote: | The reasons for discontinuing exemption from 1 st January 2007 are educational.
The College has recently undertaken a review of its Part 1 MRCOG examination, which will result in changes in both the format and content of the examination.
The Part 1 and Part 2 MRCOG will form a single integrated blueprint derived from the new Curriculum for Core Training.
It is therefore becoming increasingly difficult for overseas examinations to retain their comparability with an examination that is undergoing fundamental and rapid change.
In order to assist candidates following the phasing out of exemptions, the College will endeavour to:
1. provide improved access to the Part 1 MRCOG examination in an increasing number of countries, in liaison with the British Council and other reliable bodies, as long as there are sufficient candidates provide assistance in the organisation and staffing of local preparatory courses for the Part 1 MRCOG examination
2. develop distance-learning programmes for Part 1 MRCOG and make them available to candidates |
