We hear that the the College proposal for the manner of national selection methodology has been approved by the PMETB. The first posts should start in August 2007.
Council has stressed the importance of English language skills - EU medical trainees must have an IELTS score of at least 7.0 to be considered for specialty training.
It is very important that applicants demonstrate their commitment to the specialty but that selection will be based on the trainee's attitude and willingness to learn as opposed to their clinical competence.
Whislt ST1 is aimed at trainees with less than a years experience in O&G many more senior trainees will still have to take up such posts.
