Regarding DNA analysis, it ...
a. can be used to determine fetal sex.
b. can be used to determine fetal Rhesus group.
c. can be used to determine fetal karyotype
d. can be used to determine fetal risk of spina bifida
e. has been used to diagnose Huntington disease
f. has been used to diagnose myotonic dystrophy
g. has been used to diagnose fetal HIV infection

a F, that's chromosomal analysis, isn't it? How does that determine fetal sex?
b T, can, I think, but is that how you do it?
c F, as a
d F, risk multi-factorial, including folate supplementation, drugs etc
e T, autosomal dominant
f T, autosomal recessive
g F, not any infections diagnosed this way
Can you please explain a? |

False as, there is no DNA in HIV virus to do DNA testing.
The point of discussion is --
the RT-PCR test for HIV, converts HIV RNA to cDNA and then PCR done, accuracy is good.
so is this a DNA test or a RNA test?
The question asks for a DNA test.

[b]True
Yes, DNA analaysis can be used to determine fetal sex.
Actually DNA analysis allows for more rapid sex determination by assaying for Y specific sequences or by quantitative assay of X specific sequences. |

True
Utilizing cell-free fetal DNA present in the maternal blood: various potential applications including prenatal genetic testing and screening;
the test is being considered as an alternative to standard procedures for pregnant women with Rhesus-negative blood. |
