Clinical attachments seem to be very hard to organise these days.

When I was training in Birmingham we seemed to have people attached to each and every firm. What happened?

I am keen to get this going again and would like to hear about any units that offer such places.

I am going to try and get a few posts set up in my hospital but there is a limit to how many I can take personally.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

UCLH always has a fair number of clinical attachments, some in general obs and gynae and some attached to individual departments like the fetal medicine unit, or the reproductive medicine unit.

The promising thing for those attachments who want to get some hands on experience is that if they are considered good they are encouraged to apply for locum posts and have even become full time SHO's. The only problem with regard to this is that given the Department of Health's statement on International Medical Graduates and the change in the training programme, this will probably no longer be an option.
