nick, jullien and geeta, show how this should exactly be done in the osce course. you need to see it and practice it to be able to do it. i use the principles in daily practice all the time and yes they work.

there can't be a strict pattern of how to approach this as you will need to modify approach according to what the actress does.

some pointers are, stick to the truth, say sorry, give facts and not opinions, say sorry again, give time to take stuff in and say sorry, offer to answer questions and just play it by the ear also make a further management plan with the patients opinion taken in consideration and of course say sorry.

SORRY is the most imp word in the osce, the fact that cadbury's dairy milk tastes different in australia and posh spice does not smile and grodon brown always looks worried etc etc etc --------- is all our fault.

ok now try this OSCE..


24 yrs old lady, 1st pregnancy, totally low risk, at 39 weeks, comes with reduced foetal movements and is found to have an IUD. you have just diagnosed the IUD on USS. break the news to her and make further plans and answer any other questions.
