Branches of internal iliac artery
-anterior trunk gives off:
-inferior gluteal artery most posterior branch of anterior trunk, infrapiriform recess of greater sciatic foramen,
-internal pudendal artery infrapiriform recess of greater sciatic foramen, then lesser sciatic foramen gives off: inferior rectal, superficial perineal, deep perineal
-obturator artery (possibly aberrant- off inferior epigastric)
-umbilical artery -gives off superior and middle vesicle arteries, forms medial umbilical ligament
-inferior vesicle
-uterine artery gives off vaginal branches
-deferential artery courses with vas deferens, passes through inguinal canal
-middle rectal artery (hemorrhoidal)
-posterior trunk gives off: -iliolumbar artery courses upward (superiorly)
-lateral sacral artery
-superior gluteal artery suprapiriform recess of greater sciatic foramen |
