It's an interesting one.
I am not aware of any increase in abnormalities but all aberrant outcomes are more common after fertilit treatment and in subfertile women even if they conceive naturally. Does CC make an actual difference however?? Not sure.
It is associated with endometrial thinning which is due to its partial agonist / antagonist action so maybe this could be the link.
If I had to gamble I'd say ..... (still thinking but siding with false ) |

well, i dont know what the answer is but my gut feeling was False.
then again, as fert treatment is assoc with multiple preg, may be the miscariage rate increases
i agree with Nick over the congenital malformation not being any higher bit.

I would say False too.
Some studies have shown slight increase in miscarriage rates, others haven't (like anything else in medicine), so for the purposes of the exam, I would go for False. If it was significant, NICE would given us one of their "patients should be informed that..." statements about it. |

False
Women with primary ovarian failure can be made to ovulate only under very rare circumstances.
Women with reversible ovarian failure include those with autoimmune oophoritis, who can be successfully treated with corticosteroids.
Otherwise, almost all women with primary ovarian failure fall into the category of idiopathic premature ovarian failure and cannot be made to ovulate.
In vitro fertilization (IVF) with donor oocytes is the only way they can have children. (And ofcourse adoption, fostering etc)
If Primary ovarian failure with Y chromosome then they should undergo oophorectomy to prevent tumor development. |
