hi,
i agree with your answers.
chloramphenicol --- T
Use is not recommended in pregnancy at term or during labor because of potential toxicity of gray baby syndrome or bone marrow depression, in infants especially premature.
Gray syndrome = neonatal hepatic enzymes system is not mature enough to metabolize chloramphenicol appropriately. Hence it accumulates in the baby's blood stream, causing hypotension , cyanosis, leading to death.
metronidazole --- F
acyclovir --- F _________________ Dr Miss. Raj Walavalkar MBBS MRCOG

You may be surprised to hear that metronidazole is contraindicated in the first trimester - see the BNF!
I know we use it but it is not recommended and we advise avoidance. |

That will teach me to read the question!!
You are absolutely right - metronidazole is safe in trimester 2 and 3. |

Some of recent studies say MNZ is not Contraindicated even in first trimester. I Do not remember where i read. But caution is required i suppose. I do not know whether to answer T or F.

It is definitely false as it is the third trimester
I would be surprised if they had this question in the first trimester as it is debatable but if they did I would answer false if it said 'absolutely contraindicated' and true if it said 'relatively contraindicated' or 'best avoided'.
