I have been practicing using Ms in clinic since the theoretical course (If I havent been sure regarding Mrs or Miss..) it is very strange but I'm getting there!
I was just wondering what your views were is the patient was 14 or similar? Should we still say Ms / Miss Smith and Dr X? or is it better to try to get them on side and be slightly less formal and say her fist name and surname eg Claire and introduce yourself as Richard Peevor, the registrar in the clinic etc...
Just wondering..
Thanks

Hi Richard
That's a good question.
I am not exactly sure to be honest.
I would not suggest first name terms unless the patient specifically asks you and as we discussed you remain Dr Peevor and never Richard.
I would stick with Ms therefore.
I do think you will get a young girl as they cannot role play and it would be inappropriate to ask someone older to pretend to be younger.
Glad to see you are practising - keep it up
We are just finishing the first Circuits Course and the guys who had been on the Theory Course did realy well. You could see who had and who had not attended (with a few exceptions). _________________ "Teale Fenning Medical Education" delivering evidence-based, exam-orientated learning since 1997 |
