Gold standard examples of how you should, and how you should not, approach the OSCE.
OSCE Gold is a new Course that we have written at the request of our old delegates who enjoyed our own role play during the OSCE Secrets and Circuits Courses. The Course is unique in that, as examiners, we stand up and show you how you should answer a series of questions in a real exam format.
We show you what you should be doing … We show what you should not be doing!!
From past experience we know that many of you make the same mistakes every year and that these are often easy to correct. We also know many of you forget to address the basic points which always score highly.
The Course has been developed following the success of the OSCE Secrets and Circuits Courses which work in conjunction – Secrets tells you what to do and Circuits gives you an opportunity to test what you have learned. OSCE Gold offers a different perspective and a third learning experience that complements the other two courses. None of the questions are repeated so you also get to see more examples of:
Basic Role Playing: we show you how to take comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological histories quickly in any situation to ensure you do not miss anything.
Advanced Role Playing: learn how to break bad news, counsel and console the angry patient, deal with domestic violence and sexual abuse.
The Difficult Patient: see how to handle the most difficult patient and how to turn the consultation around in your favour even if you make a mistake.
Structured Vivas: learn how to handle the most difficult examiner through a series of structured vivas addressing a variety of situations such as result interpretation, emergencies, surgical procedures and complications, and Guideline-based scenarios.
Prioritisation: the classic interactive structured viva where you present your appraisal of a labour ward board, an operative waiting list, or GP referral letters.
Case Note Presentation: the exam has changed in recent years and you are almost certain to be asked to review and then present a clinical case – we show you how to address a patient or how to interact with an inquisitive examiner following a clinical error which is the typical scenario.
Audit, Protocols, & Risk Management: everybody’s worse nightmare but these questions can be answered safely and you can score highly if you know the tricks!
See the experts in action!
