   Booking FAQ's

It is easy to get confused when booking a Teale Fenning Medical Education course as there are so many to choose from! Each course offers something different and all are potentially useful depending on your individual needs and experience. As a rough guide we suggest the following approach:

Q.      If I can only do one course which would it be?

A.      Our Essay Writing Technique Course

This is our keynote course and arguably the most important. The short answer essays remain the hardest part of the MRCOG Part 2 and count towards more marks than the MCQ and EMQ papers. They are also the commonest reason for failure.

Q.      but I have already done the Essay Writing Technique Course

A.      then do the Essay Practice Course

The Essay Practice Course is an excellent opportunity to test the skills taught on the Essay Writing technique as we spent all weekend doing essay plans and ‘bubbling’ the Teale Fenning way! We always select topical essays and hot topics and have predicted 4 to 5 of the essays in the last few exams.

Q.      I can do two courses, which would you suggest as a second choice?

A.      One of our MCQ Courses – O&G in 48 Hours or the MCQ Past Paper

The MCQ Past Paper and O&G in 48 Hours Courses are aimed at improving your knowledge base. Both intensive weekends are spent discussing questions in a MCQ format and are supported by course material that aids subsequent revision. If you want to know the answer to something then these courses will not let you down.

Q.      OK that makes sense but how do I decide between O&G in 48 Hours and the Past Paper Course?

A.      That depends on what you have already covered in your revision

If you can only do one of these courses we generally recommend the MCQ Past Paper Course unless you have been through the book of RCOG questions in detail and are happy with your answers to each and every question. The reason for this is that a significant number of these questions (approximately 30-40%) are repeated in every exam. If you have evidence-based answers to all ten exams covered in this book we would suggest you chose the O&G in 48 Hours Course which develops the themes from the Past Paper book and looks at the key topics in more detail. Our delegates tell us that an equal number of questions in the exam come from both courses and that they are both useful and offer different, but mutually beneficial, information.

Q.      Right, I think I know which courses will suit me best but what about your new course , EMQ Solutions , is that any good?

A.      Of course it is!

The Extended Matching Questions (EMQ) Solutions Course was introduced in 2006 following the change in the RCOG exam format. Unfortunately EMQs are completely different to MCQs and the Essays. None of our other courses cover EMQs so we recommend this course to all delegates especially those who have no prior experience of this new style of examining.

Q.      Do I get a discount for booking more than one course?

A.      I am afraid not

Whilst we no longer offer any discount for multiple bookings please be advised that we, and more importantly almost all of our candidates, feel each course offers excellent value for money. We like to think that our courses can actually save you money as they are so comprehensive that you should not need to do any other course. Furthermore our pass rates are so consistently high that your chance of passing the exam is significantly increased and this means no further fees for registration. All you will need to budget for is that graduation gown!
