1. Instruction to essay technique: Like all exams there are aspects of technique without which it is difficult to pass. We concentrate on understanding the terminology of the questions, highlighting common costly errors and ensuring you approach each essay correctly.

2. Essay structures: We provide structures to apply to every type of question. These provide a framework for answering even the most difficult and frightening essay. We teach you how to cover multiple points quickly and how to improve your score. Exactly what you need to pass!

3. ‘Brain-searching’ and Marking Scheme ‘bubbling’ exercises: This unique technique, devised by Teale Fenning, teaches you how to plan for your essays and focuses on ways to improve your score by analysing and understanding actual RCOG marking schemes. You will be given several typical marking schemes to illustrate each and every essay type.

4. Analysis of past papers with ‘hot tips’ for future exams. We generally predict at least THREE of the questions in the upcoming exam at each course but have now got FIVE twice!!

5. A FULL MOCK ESSAY EXAM. This has proved to be the most popular part of the course. You will do 10 NEW essays in a timed ‘exam’ environment. These will then be marked and returned to you within two weeks along with a formal report and detailed marking schemes. This provides for detailed individual feedback on each essay as well as on your overall approach so that you can identify your weaknesses and recognise your strengths. Your essays are marked extremely carefully and diligently providing you with very personal advice on your technique, style, approach and grammar. 

The option to undertake one or several correspondence exams each of which includes ten new questions covering what we consider to be the current ‘hot topics’. Each exam is marked in detail allowing further in depth analysis of your strengths and weaknesses and an assessment of what you have learnt from the course and mock exam – an ideal opportunity to measure your improvement.
